Chronic aortic regurgitation: integrated severity
Version 2026.10.1
Counts the specific criteria for mild (6) and severe (7) (≥4 each), then quantifies intermediate cases (RVol, RF, EROA; Grade I–IV) only with valid measurements. Contradictory, unreliable or insufficient data give an indeterminate or incomplete result.

Flowchart:
Applicability
- Native valve with chronic AR. Prosthetic and repaired valves, and acute regurgitation, are outside the algorithm.
- AR is graded by integrating specific signs and measurements; no single parameter produces a grade. Poor image quality or discordant parameters give an indeterminate result.
- Quantitative parameters are used only when valid for the study (holodiastolic timing, jet geometry, no shunt or second regurgitant valve for stroke-volume methods, hemispheric PISA).
- Scope of the algorithmIs this a native valve with chronic AR?State whether the valve is native and the regurgitation chronic.
