Pulmonary hypertension: echocardiographic screening probability (2025 Figure 5)
Version 2026.10.1
Peak TR velocity ≥2.9 m/s, or ≥2.8 m/s with at least two adjunctive signs, suggests PH after technical errors are excluded; a hyperdynamic circulation also requires two adjunctive signs; an insufficient TR signal never yields a normal pressure. The output is an echo probability, separate from invasive diagnosis.

Flowchart:
Applicability
- Screening of adults at risk for or with suspected PH. Patients with adult congenital heart disease are considered separately (Figure 5, criterion 12).
- The TRV criterion applies in the absence of RVOT obstruction; RVSP equals PASP only without RVOT, pulmonic or proximal PA obstruction.
